The Way to a Brighter Future - Fourth Hour Democrats

Sitting in a library reading about our “successes” in Iraq I begin to ponder why we are still wasting money on what has become a total disaster. It isn’t even a war; it’s more a Republican attempt to force democracy on another country. We had such a problem with Russia doing this with communism yet we’re trying to do the same thing with democracy. So what is our reason for staying in Iraq? Mark Rodriguez knows that there is no sound answer for this question.
With no incumbent running this district has an important choice to make. The Republican candidate, Kurt Bullard, stands for more of the same in Iraq and fully supports the disaster in Iraq. Mark Rodriguez believes that the Iraq war has been a complete disaster for America and he will vote to bring the troops home, end the waste of billions of American dollars, and stop the destruction of the American.
Mr. Bullard supports keeping our troops in Iraq until we have created a “friendly democracy” and opposes setting a timetable for withdrawal. The question that needs to be asked then is what is a friendly democracy? Democracy implies that the country’s future is in the hands of the people. But the Republican goal for Iraq seems to be the creation of a puppet government that Washington can manipulate. Mr. Rodriguez, however, wants change and he wants it soon. He will vote to remove our military presence from Iraq within his first term and to end the pointless deaths of our soldiers.
This war has cost half a trillion dollars and it is estimated that by its end it could cost American taxpayers one to two trillion dollars! This is an immense amount of money to spend on an unnecessary war. But instead of trying to stop this, Mr. Bullard supports the continued waste of American money. Mr. Rodriguez, on the other hand, wants to end this wastefulness and end the war as quickly as possible.
It has been said that opponents of the Iraq war are unpatriotic. On the contrary Mr. Rodriguez believes that pulling our troops from Iraq is the only patriotic thing to do. The war has depleted our military supply depots and we would be vulnerable if war broke out with another country. But Mr. Bullard has ignored this cost of the Iraq war in his blind support for the Republican Party line. Mr. Rodriguez does not want to see our country weakened and because of this he will vote for a rapid pullout from Iraq.
So what will it be? Will you choose a mindless supporter of the Republican Party? Or will you choose someone who has America’s interests at heart? The man who supports our military, the man who will bring our boys home, the man who will not support broken policy. Mr. Rodriguez has the heart of a giant and a vote for him is a vote for a better America.

When I think of Mark Rodriguez, these words come to mind: intelligent, considerate, youthful, and dedicated in helping with the betterment of the United States. Mark Rodriguez is someone who would fulfill his duties as a Congressional Member. He describes himself as “a person who believes that, when ran effectively, government can help solve societal problems. Government is not the enemy.” Rodriguez listens to the people and knows exactly what we not only need but what we deserve. This is the kind of genuine person I want to represent me in Congress.
Mark Rodriguez has held elective office since his graduation from college. After only four years on City Council he ran for State Legislature and was triumphant. His youth has been questioned as whether he is as wise, compared to his older competitor, but his age will give him more opportunity to represent the youth along with the wiser people in society.
Rodriguez believes that the wealthy should have more taxes then those struggling through life, those who are living paycheck to paycheck. Then once the wealthy pay these higher taxes he believes that we should redistribute them along the poorer parts of the country. Rodriguez believes that government is neglecting ten percent of today’s workforce. This ten percent are the people who are working for minimum wage. He believes that these people should be forgotten no more and he is ready to stand up and fight for them.
Mark Rodriguez shows compassion to all forms of societal beliefs. He is able to step back from an issue and see both sides. For example, unions between same sex couples; he believes that people should have the right to choose their own life style. He also understands traditions, such as Catholic tradition and how it is against their religion.
This candidate believes that we should do more to protect the environment and the health care of today’s citizens. Rodriguez is a “Green” candidate; he believes that we need to watch what we are doing today so that tomorrow will come. “National health insurance is the only long term solution and is only a matter of time until people see that.” Just going to the emergency room alone cost an average of $383. A single parent raising a child cannot afford that on top of all their other bills. Mark Rodriguez believes that the prices for health care are too high and that everyone should have health care insurance to help with their medical bills.
When you go to the polls make sure to consider these facts. His competitor, Kurt Bullard, has never run for office, does not appreciate a person’s right to choose their own lifestyle, shows no compassion for the people working for minimum wage, and doesn’t believe that everyone should have health care. I do not want a candidate who doesn’t think of the people to represent me in Congress. I would much rather have someone who all he thinks is what the people need and deserve. A vote for Rodriguez is a vote for the people.

Ending The American Holocaust-- 3rd hour republicans

The fetus. A human life. The debate against abortion is that simple. We can argue all we want about the rights of a woman, the morality of the issue, the ethical situation, and or the circumstances in which the abortion was made. Those are all secondary factors that serve only to clutter the debate. The simple fact is, when we remove the fetus from the mother’s body we are in fact murdering the human life—for what reason, comes later. The issue at hand is do we have the right to take a life without giving it a chance to live?
Thirty-two years ago the Supreme Court of the United States denied the most basic of human rights—life—to the most vulnerable of people; unborn children. As we approach this anniversary, we pause to remember the ramifications—over 44 million dead.
The authors of the courts Roe vs. Wade decision found a constitutional right to privacy that guaranteed the right to an abortion. But in doing so, they failed to consider what—or who—it was that was being aborted. They went so far as to write: “We need not to resolve the difficult question of when life begins…There has always been strong support for the view that life does not begin until live birth.
All citizens, including Supreme Court Justices, need to consider the question of when a human’s life begins. It is now abundantly clear that a new, unique, and infinitely valuable human being begins life at conception.
Think about this. There are 1.3 million babies were aborted in the year 2000. One baby is aborted every 24 seconds, 147 every hour, 3,526 every everyday, 24,750 every week, and 107,750 every month. Also less than two percent of women say that they have become pregnant as result of rape or incest, which means the other 98% don’t even have any form of an excuse at all. The fact is they are just too immature and selfish to take responsibility for their own careless actions. Another sad fact is that abortion is the most common surgical procedure among all other procedures. By supporting Rodriguez you are supporting a new form of genocide—abortion. Vote for Bullard and help end this American Holocaust.

In today’s world of fast paced politics, it’s easy to feel like the government is a distant, complex, world that is far too complicated for a regular person to understand. Politicians seem to be all in it to benefit themselves, and are far too busy---doing who knows what---to concern themselves with YOUR problems. And to be honest with you, I find this to be somewhat true. That’s why I find the Democratic House of Representatives candidate Mark Rodriguez to be a breath of fresh air.
He’s one of the few politicians I’ve seen who seems to be in this campaign to want to make honest changes for the better. And his campaign slogan “New Changes for a Better Future” certainly states what he has in mind for Nebraska . Rodriguez cares about Nebraska , and through life experiences he can relate with things that are important to someone like me. For example, lower gas prices, minimum wage, and the health of our environment.
It was when Rodriguez received his first job at a coffee shop that he started to notice how much of an impact his long drives from work and back to his home took on his check book. But, living in Nebraska, he also noticed the many corn fields he passed. This made him think about how dependant America is on foreign oil, even though there are sources of cleaner, American made fuel right in the heart of the Mid-West! Rodriguez has plans for pushing America to take more advantage of the Ethanol she has, making Americans less at the mercy of foreign oil suppliers, and creating a larger profit for Nebraskan farmers, a healthier Nebraskan economy, and healthier air for us to breathe.
Anyone who has earned minimum wage knows how little it adds up to be on a hard earned pay check. But this is especially true for people who are forced to live solely off of that one little check. Many families and senior citizens are forced everyday to struggle with the bills, food, clothing, high gas prices, and even more, like damages from unpredictable weather. So why wouldn’t someone want to raise the minimum wage? Why wouldn’t someone want to make it a little easier for lower-income families to get by? And its not just lower-income citizens who would benefit from a raise in the minimum wage. The cost of college is only getting higher, and young people could always use a little extra money when it comes to student loans, books, food, and do I need to remind you once again of the high gas prices? Rodriguez believes that the government should be a friend and help to the people, and a raise in the minimum wage is a simple, easy way to do this.
Mark Rodriguez is the change we need to see in our politicians. We don’t need a government controlled by the wealthy who only care about the wealthy. We don’t need a government that can’t be bothered to consider the “little people” or our precious environment. What we need is a government that is ready to make REAL changes. What we need is Mark Rodriguez in the House of Representatives.

United We Stand. 2nd hour Republican

Kurt Bullard, 56, grew up on a farm in Hooper, Neb. When the United States entered Vietnam, he served as a Second Lieutenant leading the 501st regiment. Upon returning home to Neb. from fighting in Vietnam, he worked at the Nebraska Furniture Mart. With his business leadership, he quickly rose to the top to become the Vice President of Nebraska Furniture Mart.

He wants to undo the business regulations imposed by the Democrats in congress. He wants to continue having tax cuts. As vice president of one of the Nebraska's largest employer, he knows how to run the economy. He believes there should be an equal opportunity for everyone but not necessarily equal results for everyone. He wants to stop increasing the minimum wage.

“I overcame obstacles and made it without handouts from the government,” Bullard said. “That is the American Way.”

Bullard is a business leader and has not held political office before. This places him in an unique position. He can help the United States' economy while not being corrupted by years of frivolous political life.

“There is a world out there outside of government service,” Bullard said. “My opponent has been sponging off the government since she graduated from college.”

Bullard is willing to let immigrants to have an equal opportunity so long as they comply with American regulation. He feels that it should be easier for immigrants to become citizens. The process needs to be attainable with the basics covered to live in America. They should learn to speak American, buy homes, buy cars, and other governmental actions. Then they can begin to start a living, raise a family while helping our economy and other essential of a citizen of the United States. However, he has no amnesty towards immigrants who are not willing to become positive American citizens. It is like an American citizen working in an Italian pizza parlor in Italy. It just does not happen.

Bullard feels that we are winning the War on Terror. He feels that we need to continue fighting there and help the Iraqis while defending our borders from future terrorist attacks.

Bullard believes life at conception. He feels therefore that abortion should be harder to attain. Only when the mother’s life is endangered, should there be a whisper of abortion. If a woman is pregnant and does not want to have the baby, he feels there are other options to choose from that does not involve killing such as adoption.

Enough is Enough. First Hour Democrats.

Mark Rodriguez is a candidate who knows what the people want and need. Thus far, the war in Iraq has cost us, as a country, upwards of $465 billion, and the numbers are still rising. So far, 3,156 American soldiers have been killed in combat, with 3,844 killed overall. 28,385 soldiers have been wounded since the start of the war. Rodriguez knows the pain of losing a loved one to this war. On September 21, 2003, Rodriguez's brother was killed by a group of rebel militias in Iraq. Alongside his brother, 31 others were killed. 32 innocent lives were lost. It's just going to keep happening, no matter how many soldiers we send over there, no matter how many times we try to make peace. As long as there are American soldiers going to Iraq, more and more of them are going to get killed. Sending more soldiers to Iraq is not only a hard and dangerous thing for the soldiers, it's a hard thing for their families. Every day, more and more families are getting visits from army personnel, and having to deal with the fact that they will never see their brother, mother, daughter or cousin ever again. Rodriguez's goal is to get those troops out of there. We are fighting a far we cannot win. Staying in Iraq, and trying to "finish the job" isn't safe for the soldiers, it's not safe for the Iraqis, and it's not safe for us as Americans. There are far more important things we could be spending out tax dollars on here in our own country. Every day adults and children alike are going to bed hungry, sleeping on the streets, cement floors and in alleyways. Everyday someone gets seriously hurt, but cannot get medical attention because they can't afford health insurance or a doctor. Doesn't it bother you that this is happening right outside your front door, and you can't fix it because all of your tax money is going towards the war? Supporting the Iraq war is a mistake, a mistake that is seriously going to hurt America in the end. Enough is enough. We need to get those soldiers back to their families before anymore lives are tragically lost. Supporting the war is foolish, unless you are okay with millions of dollars and thousands of lives being lost in a battle we just cannot win.

Bullard > Rodriguez 1st hour republicans

The candidates for the House of Representatives election have been set. It will be Kurt Bullard, the Republican candidate, running against Mark Rodriguez, the democratic candidate. Rodriguez is a candidate who has never been a part of the real world. On the other hand there is Kurt Bullard, the American working man and the live representative of the American dream. As Vice President of Nebraska Furniture Mart he can relate to the American workers in this country.
High taxes, abortion, and government controlled healthcare in Nebraska? I don’t think so. Mark Rodriguez is crazy if he thinks these values can get him anywhere beyond city council in this state.
For over a century Nebraskans have been voting conservative republicans into congress. Have any of them thoroughly failed and not represented us to the utmost of their ability? Nothing comes to my mind. Who’s to say that we should stop now?
Mr. Rodriguez exemplifies all of the reasons why not to vote for him. He is for more government spending and higher taxes. What honest, hard working Nebraskan wants higher taxes? Today’s economy is stable and strong; more government influence in our stable economy would only weaken it. There would be excessive amounts of inflation and it would do nothing but harm our country and state. Another reason not to vote for Mr. Rodriguez is the fact hat the man is not morally sound. He is 100% pro-choice. There is no hiding it. How does a man who calls himself religious hide his own political beliefs to win some votes? Who wants a man to represent them that can’t even support his own beliefs? Well, I guess I might shy away from supporting the murder of innocent babies too if I were him. So to all you Rodriguez backers out there what do you have to say about your “representative” being pro-choice, especially those of you who are Latino and Catholic? Mr. Rodriguez doesn’t seem to be the most morally sound candidate in the race, does he?
It is plain to see that, if elected, Mr. Rodriguez would harm not only Nebraska but the entire country as well. He would take hard earned money out of our pockets and put it towards unnecessary government spending. I ask why? Why do we need to support things that are already supported enough, Mr. Rodriguez? We must simply leave good alone. We must instill good values into our youth. I’m sorry but being pro-choice is ethically and morally wrong. Mr. Rodriguez is not good for the country and most importantly not good for Nebraska.
