In my opinion this poll shows nothing.... younger people usually use our raw emotions to decide on issues, which leads to more liberal ideas, which is why clinton and obmama are the top two in this poll... when your older you use your brain more and thinking processes, which tends to be mroe democractic. so this poll shows absolutely nothing, only that are voting as a direct result from raw emotion...
It might be just me, but I think the reason behind more 18 to 29 year olds keeping track of the elections is simply because there are both a woman and an African American running for the Democratic ticket. The cool thing is, they're both the front runners so they will attract campaign watchers of all ages. This will be a landmark election, no matter what happens.
As for the "for whom would you vote?" question, Barack probably just appeals for more young voters because of his whole "change" spiel.
i would have to agree with you on that one. this election is different and its history in the making. i find it a little iroic how these two groups, women and african americans, want to be treated with the same respect as a white male and yet here we are making a huge deal about these differences. thats just me though. and to be honest im not exactly sure who i would vote for...
I think another reseason this is happening because the generation that a lot has happened. We've witnessed like 9-11, and we're in a middle of a war that effecting everyone. This is also the first chance a lot well educated students, that have been taught about the recent happenings are getting a chance to vote.
There are many people who are supporting Obama and Hilary. Many of the younger votes tend to be liberal. Is this because of the ideas held when young adults are on their own? Or perhaps it is because Obama is young himself. Either way, I think this is going to be a interesting election also.
i agree with topgunkrazy- i think the reason that more people say they would vote for obama is because he says we need change- hillary says she would be the better candidate because she has had more experience and that is not what the younger generations want
Another reason for why Obama is wining so much of the younger vote can be how he appeals to the younger generation at his rallies. In that he not only stands for change but in he is a charismatic figure
