I thought Obama wanted the troops out of Iraq? I'm glad he wants to end the war the right way but lets just hope its not another promise too difficult to keep.

I agree with Happy Gilmore.
Obama says he wants to do these things like disrupt, dismantle, and defeat Al Qaeda. But can he carry out what he says?
We will just have to wait and see...

I didn't hear a strategy, all I heard was him saying we will defeat Al Qaeda. I am all for defeating Al Qaeda but I want to hear his strategy.

It is important that we protect our country and the citizens of the United States.

Yes the terrorists are hiding in Pakistan, but invading Pakistan isn't much of an option. The Pakistan government won't hand them over either.

So I guess Obama was right, he is getting all the troops out of Iraq. He is just moving them across the border to Afghanistan.

Yes, Obama did say that he wanted troops out of Iraq, but if it is at the risk of the safety of the U.S. it isn't worth it. If our security is at risk, it isn't worth pulling troops out right away.

Im glad Obama is finally making a stand and agree to leaving troops over seas. If we leave the United States will not be safe and we are risking the lives of innocent civilians. Yes people say the troops are dying for no cause but thats not true. If they leave the middle east then its gonna be your life at risk so take your pick people. Cudos to Obama on this one.

I hate how polititians say that they're gonna do something, then turn around and do the opposite. It is just so frustrating

It's interesting how Obama during the campaign said that he opposed the war in Iraq, as well as the troop surge. And now in his first 100 days he has increased the troops overseas.

If Obama wants to dismantle al-Qaeda, then he should invade Yemen, because they have a large presence there, and because there is no real government there. The gunslinging tribal culture and the mountainous terrain in Yemen are similar to conditions in Afghanistan and are favorable for the establishment of an al-Qaeda base there. Yemen is under the radar, unlike Afghanistan, so it definitely merits more of our attention.

I think there is no simple solution to the problem. I also think that our troops have been rather successful in Iraq and now we need to finish what it all started with. Obama knows more than I about all of the issues around the World so i guess that we just have to trust him.

Charlie the Unicorn and A Non Bright Lamp I could not agree more with you! Obama was all for change and taking troops out of Iraq, but when he saw the real trouble his views changed.

I agree with pretty fly for a white guy. It's necessary that we take care of the Al Qaeda problem. But at the moment thats it seems to be is a problem. What is the plan of action? Other than bringing troops over there.
