If Barack can say that McCain is out of touch with the average American, is it not fair for McCain to say Obama is out of touch with the military community? Think about it. Not only has Obama not served his country in the armed services, he has actually openly opposed legislation that would help protect our troops in Iraq. When congress had a bill calling for more properly armored vehicles for our troops in Iraq, Obama voted in negation. This legislation would have offered American soldiers valuable protection from IEDs and other terrorist attacks. How then can Obama stand and criticize McCain for something so petty as being successful when he has this on his record? As the old saying goes, "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."
I dont think that just because McCain is rich is a bad thing. Think about it, the country is having a little bit of some economic strain so maybe he could bring some fresh new ideas to the table. Second off I agree with reagan08, you can't say McCain is out of touch with americans when he himself hasn't served in the military and has actually voted in negation of tools that would help us win the war faster and with less casualties, if we are going to be in Iraq any way why shouldn't we give our troops the utmost support we can while we try to figure things out?
It is not fair to accuse the McCain's about their wealth when they and their parents worked hard to get it. If anything they should be more in touch with the average American because they know what it's like to work hard for something they want.
Did anyone else watch the CNN special about McCain and Obama's life stories after Obama's acceptace speech last week? I've got it DVR'd and I'm in the middle of McCain's life. It's pretty fascinating...and so far I think it gives a pretty good view on just "out of touch" with America or qualified for the presidency both men are. Besides that, it's just pretty interesting :)
