Abortion is a huge controversy in today's society. It's an issue that is
addressed in this year's presidential political campaign. It's becoming a more
and more common problem. I feel abortion should be illegal because it's
taking a life, it doesn't hold people responsible for their actions, and
although, under certain circumstances people feel it's ok, it's not.
An abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the
uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. Since the egg has been fertilized it
begins the developing process of the fetus. That egg is perfectly able to
grow and develop during the stages of pregnancy and eventually become a baby.
Sadly, that process is disrupted when an abortion takes place. In my opinion,
abortion is considered taking a life and therefore should be illegal.
Abortion wouldn't be a problem if people used abstinence. People use a lot
of excuses to get an abortion, such as, a baby would be inconvenient or they
think they're too young. Those may be true but obviously they haven't
contemplated what they're doing and the affects that come from it. Getting pregnant
is one of those affects. People need to accept the consequences for what they
did and take the responsibility that comes with it.
Some say abortion is ok under certain circumstances. I still think in those
cases abortion is unacceptable. In the U.S. and throughout the world, there
are tons of loving couples wanting a child but aren't able to have one.
Adoption is a wonderful option. Instead of resulting to an abortion, people in
these situations can make a couples wish come true and bless them with a child.
Abortion causes lots of heat and arguments. I feel it should be illegal
because, it's taking a life, it doesn't hold people responsible for their
actions, and adoption is a better option. Abortion is a tough issue and many like
to avoid thinking about it. But how many lives will be taken before abortion
is made illegal?

THANK YOU. I agree totally and completely with you on this. Theres no sense in doing certain acts with the opposite sex and then getting a get out of jail free card if you dont want to deal with the consequences. IF YOU DONT WANT A BABY, DONT HAVE SEX!!!!!!! Its that simple people.

People base their arguments on their religious beliefs when arguing, but that does not work in a secularized society, where "safe sex" and "a woman's right to choose" is supported. I think the best argument is, how can abortion be admissible when the US Declaration of Independence states that everyone is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? These rights are supposedly unalienable, yet millions so far haven't had the chance to experience life. What do you think their choice would be?
What would your choice have been?

Okay...I don't personally believe in (most) abortions; I think they are morally wrong. But aside from that, I believe making abortion illegal would be a terrible move for America.
Once upon a time, America attempted to enforce Prohibiton laws because of ethical reasons....that obviously failed. But the point is, the illegal alcohol simply went underground. Not only could the laws not be enforced, but "There followed a period of unparalleled illegal drinking (often of inferior and dangerous beverages) and lawbreaking." (http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1E1-prohibit.html)
While I understand that drinking alcohol is not quite the same as aborting a baby, but this is history from which we can learn. Illegal abortion, I think, would lead to similar and devestating effects. You don't have to go to a clinic to abort your baby; coat hangers and chemicals will get the job done just as well. You might not believe that mothers wishing to abort their babies deserve safe medical procedures...But what would be gained from that mother possibly dying from the procedure or later infection, when her baby will not survive either?
Women seeking abortions are not all exactly heartless murderers, either. I think more often than not they are simply very confused, and they certainly don't deserve to die.

I agree with what most of Jesus Fish has said. It is hard for me to choose sides because there are points that both sides make I think are relevant.

Again, I don't agree with Yoda, but that's bound to happen I guess.
