This is so true! I would learn SO much more in French if I could use the translator app on my iPhone. There are also situations in class where I need a random fact, and could find it very easily on the internet using the aforementioned iPhone, but I cannot without risking its confiscation.

Well, if using facebook and technology (like this blog) is wrong, then i guess we are wrong. I think the use of technology should be encouraged. Many programs and sites could be used effectively to increase students' understanding. In some subjects, teachers at PL South are already embracing technology and its multitude of benefits, and I applaud them.

Most teenagers type faster than they write. So why can't we use computers for our notetaking? When you write then you usually miss one or two words because you're trying to keep up. But if we typed we would get everything down and still have time to listen to the teacher. I do honestly think that some students would abuse it, let's face it, some classes are boring. But it would benefit the others even more.

I think technology should be allowed in the classrooms. With our class using facebook it actually helps me better with our journals. If I don't totally understand one of them I can read other peoples to get a general idea. Also it gives a sense of growing closer to our classmates. We are able to joke and still be able to learn. Along with using ipods and what not they should be allowed too. I study so much better when I'm listening to classical music and it actually helps me focus. Schools need to relax and let technology be used.

The first point in support of this should obviously be our own class. With our facebook discussions and blogposts, not only are we learning about each other's thoughts, but we are able to discuss our own with others and expose ourselves to new ideas. There are certain technologies, ie cellphones that might be used to cheat or disrupt class, but only because at the moment that is our only use for them. If teachers, like Mr.Keller, come up with ways for us to use these new technologies in a beneficial way, then good behavior and learning will follow.

I completely agree! People need to stop treating technology as a bad thing to increase in schools. When they think of teens and technology, all they think about is loud music, texting, and facebook. They are truly underestimating todays students if they think that is all we would use technology for if it was allowed in the classroom. Ever since this government class started I get on facebook sometimes just to check the group and share my opinions. Doesn't that sound educational?

I think this was my favorite article I've read so far :p. We're using technology in our own government class and so far, its helped me a lot. If I don't understand a question I can go online to Facebook and have my classmates help me with understanding it. Instead of having adults, administrators, and teachers viewing technology as a bad thing, they need to learn to trust us more. I think some technology is beneficial to a classroom like our facebook group.
