Bush Job Approval Hits Administration Low

It's quite shocking in the disparity between democrats and republicans that approve President Bush's job. Much of this most likely stems from the war, which seems to be an ever growing political issue. Bush's approval ratings have been played off as such a negative thing, when in reality there have been other presidents with similar ratings. It's almost impossibly to please everyone, especially those doing anything in their power to rid him from office.

This doesn't surprise me at all, seeing as history has shown that towards the end of a president's term their approval rating usually goes down, especially when they aren't up for re-election. I think it's because we have all this other candidates coming in highlighting all of the bad things Bush has done in office, and saying all of the things they will change if they are elected. This makes most people focus on the rough spots of Bush's presidency rather than the good things he has done.

These statics are surprisingly unsurprising. Bush is on his way out of office and the public seems to be ready for a new leader. I think it is interesting that him and his father had basically the same ratings about the same time. I guess that shows it might not necessarily be what Bush is doing but what new candidates are promising.

I hate opinion polls. The American public always hates a president at the end of his last term. Nothing any president has done will change the fact that the American people make presidents look bad even though they might have not been that bad at all. If a Democrat is elected, give him/her two terms and then see where their approval ratings are.

This is not a shock to me. My parents have been against the war since the start. As you know, parental political views usually depict their offsprings' views.

I agree that part of the problem is that candidates are focusing on the negative part of the Bush administration. Even without the campaign though Bush would have low approval ratings, as there aren't many obvious improvements happening with the war.

I guess it's a good thing we're getting ready for a new president. I, however, have always supported Bush. He's done good things too. Unfortunately, I think Bush will always be connected with the war in Iraq.

Well at least Bush's approval ratings are better than Nixon's were and no one's trying to impeach him...
But still 28% is a very low approval rating. Obviously the war has a lot to do with this and the fact that it's nearing the end of his last term. Also, people are very good at criticizing other people so naturally the president is going to get negative feedback like this if like isn't perfect for everyone in the country.

Does it really matter how low Bush's approval ratings have gone down? It's like kicking a dead horse. If you look at Truman, he was extremely unpopular and now history is a lot kinder than the citizens who were there at the time. So lets take it easy with the polls and focus on concrete objectives, not statistics.

The Bush approval ratings are most definitely affected by the new candidates' promises. The world is so wrapped up in everything that is wrong, no one realizes any of the good Bush has done for our country. I guess the comparison to his dad is expected and just goes to show that his ratings aren't out of whack, they are more or less normal for a president at the end of a difficult term.

For a president that had to react to 9/11 in just his second year, and make a flurry of hasty decisions in the name of national security, I think George W. did alright. Its easy to see his errors in hindsight, but if someone else was in the hot seat things could have potentially been much worse. Ill admit that an economic stimulus package to me sounds absurd, but then again congress passed it as well. There are enough checks and balances within the government to restrict Bush from running his own show. Despite congresses involvement, everything happens to end up as Bush's fault.

I'm so sick of hearing Bush's approval rating. If he knows what is best for the country in the long run we should support that effort. It's like we are a little kid who doesn't like the taste of the cough medicine, but still want the benefits from it.

Can we all just agree that not many people like Bush and move on? I mean honestly, how many times can the media go over the fact that his approval ratings are terrible.

Bush didn't do so bad...Sure he started the war in Iraq and that HAS been improving. With what cards Bush was delt with I think he has done a good job. This is what stinks about society. Let’s look at all of the negative aspects. Sure you have to look at some of the bad to look at the good but no one takes a look at what he has done in Africa. Bush gave the country tax breaks which help the economy to an extent. You have to sit a second and think "what would it have been like if Gore was President?" AHHH!!!! Wake me up!!!! I'm just kidding. Bush did a good job in my book. Saddam Hussein was a bad guy and we took him out and are trying to lead the people of Iraq to a democracy. GO BUSH!!!
