meh... it just seems like Obama is playing up his childhood and his race a little too much. people are bored with hearing the same thing.

I actually like this news story about Obama. It hit on the main points but didn't try to play it too much. I think it's very good for Obama because almost everyone can relate to losing someone close, or feeling like they need someone there for support, so it puts him on a more personal level.

It's good to see that Obama was able to take what some might argue as a troublesome childhood and turn it into something positive. Living without a father is something that no one should have to experience. Being able to take pieces of what not to do has made him a better man. This clip also helps to confirm that Obama is not Muslim, which is a ridiculous claim anyway. It is clear that his mother raised him single-handedly very well.

I like the idea of showing how families shape who we are today and I think Obama does well through this new piece is doing that. I think it is also good to see a candidate that hasn't always lived a cherished life grow from and show others it is possible. Leaders overcome things and fight towards the top and this piece kind of shows that that is what Obama is doing but he is not forgetting where he came from either which is very important.

This story helped me to understand Obama a little better. It shows where he's coming from, and that he didn't lead a perfect life. He struggled just like ordinary people do. I especially liked how he was able to learn from his father's mistakes. Instead of becoming bitter, he turned his negative experience with his father into a useful life lesson.

Obama is a very interesting candidate, but not soley because of his race. He has been through a lot and I could tell by how little he said of his father (or how little NBC showed) that he does not approve of him very much. What he has learned from his mother and father I believe is what is key to him winning the election. He has so much charisma and is such a good speaker that it makes it hard not to like him. Thus, because of this reason, I think he will win.

This was a well done story, in that it didn't seem to flaunt Obama or tear him apart. For me, it was just stating the facts and NBC wasn't taking a side, which is a refreshing story when it comes to this election coverage. I'm personally tired of hearing about any of the candidates, but I respect that this is trying to share the background story of a possible next President. It's always helpful to have half-sisters and family friends express their observations of a candidate.

I think this clip is a huge advantage to Obama. He has been accused of being a racist like his Reverend Wright comes across as being a racist, but how could he be racist when he was raised by a white woman from Kansas? He seems hesitant to use this for political advantage, but could if he needed to.

I like this story. It lets us know about this candidate's background and puts him on more of a personal level. It really shows his strength because he had many struggles but did not let them conquer him.

good point coke. This is a lot better than mccains ad in my opinion. Short and to the point. Obama's anecdote was better than Mccains.

When becoming a leader you must prove it somehow. After watching this clip you can tell that Obama came from what is not exactly suburban Nebraska. He was able to rise up from pretty much the bottom of society and now might be elected President of the United States. I think he has tried to not pull the race card in this election which I think is smart. It shows some character in the man or really good strategy.
