This was a little odd, because I wasn't expecting to see presidential campaigns when I was watching american idol. But I guess they wan't to be able to reach as many people as possible. Sadly, probably more people watch american idol than the news, which they could care less about.
The video says it's no longer available but good thing I saw it on american idol :)I liked McCain's little joke at the end. I agree with pumpkin pie, it WAS odd to see presidential campaigns on this show, but whatever works is fine i guess
No longer available? well good thing I watch American Idol religiously :) (Go David Archuleta! haha) Anyways, I'm glad they showed these clips because the show is extremely popular so they will be able to reach a ton of people. 'Idol Gives Back' is a very special night. It's also emotional so I think having the candidates on it showed they have a soft, caring side which will appeal to many people.
I agree with the previous two posts. I think it's sad that our PRESIDENTIAL elections are being treated in many ways like American Idol. Too much touchy-feely "ooh 'change' that has a good ring to it" from Obama, little stabs at the other candidates and emotional breakdowns like an episode of 'The Real World' from Hillary, and the try-hard humor from McCain. It's far too media-esque in my opinion. (I now realize that I created a massive run-on sentence, and frankly I don't care)
I thought it was pretty smart of the candidates to campaign on Idol Gives Back, because a ton of people watch Americal Idol. What a good way to get noticed and even further persuade and minipulate citizens to vote for them. To be honest I was actually expecting to see the candidates on the show, because why not? Believe it or not that publicity gained them more attention than you'd think.

I find it funny that millions more viewers turned out for AI than for the debate and then BAM, the candidates are on AI.
