In my opinion there was no clear winner. Both opponenents stated there opinions on each issue from the current state of the economy to foreign relations. They were both prepared and knowledgeable about the topics. McCain consistantly pointed out that Obama was inexperienced. Obama agreed numerous times that there was an issue but disagreed with McCain on how to deal with it. Both candidates made a strong case for their position on the topics but I personally favored McCains views on dealing with the situations. I don't think that we should continuously bail people out because they need help. McCain's thought was that if the people thought they could afford the mortgage than they should be held accountable. Bailing them out would be rewarding greed. The different views on how to handle the situation is an example of how the ideas of Republicans and Democrats differ.
I think that John McCain won by just a bit. However,he probably should have done better because I think Obama will be stronger in the topics they will discuss during the next debate.
while they both made good points on several issues, it was their differences in presentation and the fact that this should have been mccains topic that really made it obama's win for me.
mccain repeatedly brought up the fact that he was older and more experienced than obama, but ironically this strategy made him seem a bit juvenile.
instead of sticking to the issues (which obama did a fairly good job of doing) mccain made sure he could squeeze an example of how obama is less experienced into his responses almost every time he spoke. if he was really going to be a better president maybe he could just tell us what he is going to do rather than continue to linger on all the things he has already done. its like in his head he was thinking, "oh no obama made a good point.. maybe the people will forget about it if i just reiterate how experienced i am again." he should win for more than just his experience so to me it was annoying and a bit pathetic.
