Palin Criticizes Obama's 'Terrorist' Connection

I like Sarah Palin & John McCain, but I don't think that this was necessary or beneficial to their campaign. At this point, I think that the main concern is the U.S. economy, not who Barack Obama is associated with. Barack Obama pulled ahead when the economic crisis worsened. Instead of pointless attacks, they should be explaining to Americans why they should be the ones to turn to when the economy begins to collapse. That is what will bring voters back on their side.

Oh, wow, thats just funny. I think they're getting desperate. Honestly, terrorist connections?
This just makes Palin look like she'll try anything to win a vote.

Ouch, Palin. It's too bad she had to go there. I could drag in the obvious criticisms--the Dems have dirt on her, too; no one is responsible for their friends'--or anyone else's--actions.

I know, of course, that those arguments fall pretty flat and whiny, and that people have already realized them.

What really bothers me about this though, is that up till now, both candidates led (relatively) respectful campaigns. Palin is basically calling Obama an anti-American terrorist--or at least, that is what's going to come out of this. What happened to crossing party lines, uniting democrats and republicans, recognizing the other as one who was working (albeit misguidedly) out of love for his country?

I'm so sick of partisan mudslinging. I understand that it's a necessary competition, I understand that both parties are doing all they can to get ahead.
But I hate political parties, I really do.

Call me unrealistic, but I really do wish we could call ourselves Americans and just work for the common good. I wish the candidates could focus more on America and less time on their parties, the opponents, and the opponents' parties.

Boo, politicians.

Actually, these are not false accusations, nor are they used merely for political reasons. Obama actually is associated with a terrorist named William Ayers who led a terrorist group called Weather Underground to bomb numerous locations, including an attack on the US Capitol during the 1970s. Ayers has been quoted as saying, "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." Obama does not merely know Ayers; he has held a campaign meeting at Ayers' home and served on a foundation board with Ayers. Palin has every right to use this against Obama, because it truly is despicable. Oh, and by the way, the same thing goes for the other side. If McCain was hanging around at David Duke's house, I think we would be hearing about it.

I think the part of Obama's life that Sarah Palin is talking about is very relevant. The media is not covering any of this and so Sarah Palin is doing the american public a favor by letting us know about Obama. When it comes to criticizing Obama, the liberal media refuses to say anything about it, but when Sarah Palin has even a minor flaw they critique it over and over again. If Sarah Palin had a wrinkle in her shirt the media would be all over it, saying what a disgrace she was and how she is inexperienced, but if Obama had a wrinkle in HIS shirt, the media would say how it brings him that much closer to the American people. Thank you Sarah Palin for being a true American and wanting only the best for us.

I agree with pixistix, I think Palin is just getting really desperate right now because she knows that she is behind in the polls. Trying to somehow connect Obama with a terrorist is just a crazy idea. How does the NY Post know or not if Obama was still friends with they guy at the time he became a "domestic terrorist." It is just crazy that she would try to pull this one out at this late of point in the debate.

Obama and William Ayers both served on committees for not-for-profit groups and that is how they know each other. Not-for-profit groups, they haven't been planning terrorist attacks or anything like that. Ayers is now a distinguished professor at a university in Chicago, so of course Obama would have met him.
