I agree with taking subsidies away from the oil companies, but what reason is there to turn around and spend all this money? Private companies are already investing huge amounts of money in energy-saving technology because of the comsumer demand for fuel efficient cars and homes. Creating a goverment bureaucracy will do little to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. The ingenuity of the American people is our best chance at reducing our dependence.
